Featured Speaker

Daniel Loxton

Skeptical investigator Daniel Loxton tells the tale of his youthful passion for mystical forces, hidden monsters, and things that go bump in the night. It's an enthusiasm he learned from his paranormally-inclined parents — who, paradoxically, also gave him the critical thinking tools he uses in his work today.

Is sheer weirdness enough reason to reject paranormal beliefs ? Daniel says, "No way! The universe can be as weird as it likes."

A better question is, how can we find out what's really true? Daniel shares his elation in discovering, as a teenager, the existence of a specialized "skeptical" literature that uses science and scholarship to solve spooky mysteries. He argues that skeptics and paranormal enthusiasts are often driven by the same love of mystery — and share the scientists' love for seeking the truth.
